Lmics Lenta PsR

A matched stereo pair of ribbon microphones with an ultra-thin 0.3 μm aluminum ribbon and a reduced 33:1 transformer ratio. Designed for precise transmission of micro-dynamics without excessive coloration.

What this means in practice

  • High sensitivity to micro-dynamics — accurate reproduction of attacks and decays.
  • Extended perception of high-frequency details — more "air" and spatial information.
  • More neutral character — reduced transformer influence on the timbre.
  • Fast response — transients are reproduced more accurately.

Where the microphone excels

The perfect choice for studio recording of acoustic music (classical, jazz, folk), sound design, and ambient miking, where maximum detail of the source is essential.

  • Acoustic guitar (especially fingerstyle)
  • Strings (violin, viola, cello, ensembles)
  • Piano at moderate or quiet dynamics
  • Jazz drums (brushes, light overheads)
  • Woodwinds and soft percussion
  • Ambient and room sources (room, distant pairs, halls)
  • Vocals in controlled conditions (intimate, quiet performances)
  • Sound design and post-production

Signal chain requirements

  • Preamp with high and clean gain (around 60–70+ dB).
  • Low self-noise of the signal chain.
  • High-quality cabling and shielding.
  • Mandatory use of a pop filter and wind protection when recording vocals.

When to use with caution

  • Close vocals without a pop filter (high risk of mechanical stress on the ultra-thin ribbon).
  • Moderately loud sources at close range (brass, cymbals).
  • Field conditions and drafts without quality wind protection.
  • Working with budget preamps (possible increase in noise due to low output level).

When is it better to choose the classic Lenta PR?

The ultra-thin PsR ribbon requires delicate handling. The classic PR model is the better choice in the following cases:

  • Very high SPL and close miking (guitar cabinets, hard-hitting drums).
  • Stage and touring conditions, where maximum mechanical reliability is important.
  • Situations where the priority is high output signal and a "thick, vintage" sound character, rather than ultimate HF detail.
